Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how WebtoonMe ("we", "us") handles information when you use webtoonme.com and the WebtoonMe comic creator (the "Service").

You can use the Service in local mode without an account. If you sign in, buy credits, share a comic, or order a printed book, we process additional information to provide those features.

Account. If you create an account or sign in with Google, we collect your email address and authentication identifiers. Passwords are handled by our auth provider and are not stored by the app in plaintext.

Project content. Stories, character details, photos you upload, scripts, art direction, and generated comics. In local mode this stays on your device. If you enable cloud sync, we store it with your account so you can reopen projects on other devices.

Bring-your-own-key (BYOK). Optional Google Gemini or Anthropic API keys are stored only in your browser. They are sent to that provider when you generate content. We do not store BYOK keys on our servers.

Payments and credits. Credit purchases, trials, promo redemptions, and print orders are processed by Stripe. We keep credit balances, transaction records, and Stripe customer or session identifiers. We do not store full card numbers.

Shipping. If you order a physical book, we collect the name, address, and email needed to fulfill the order.

Usage and diagnostics. We may record product events, error logs, and technical data such as approximate request timing or user agent to operate and improve the Service. Optional analytics (for example PostHog or Firebase) is used only when enabled for a deployment. API keys and comic content are not sent as analytics properties.

• Provide, host, and improve the comic creator, including AI generation and export.
• Create and maintain your account, cloud projects, share links, and credit balance.
• Process payments, trials, promo codes, and print shipping.
• Communicate about your account, orders, or service issues.
• Detect abuse, debug failures, and keep the Service secure.

When you generate text or images, prompts, reference photos, and related project context are sent to the AI provider used for that request (typically Google Gemini, and Anthropic Claude when you choose it). For BYOK, the request uses your key. For credit-based generation, we use our server-side keys.

Those providers process the inputs needed to return a result. Their own privacy policies apply to that processing.

• Local mode: project data stays in your browser storage on this device.
• Cloud sync: signed-in projects are stored with our backend (currently Appwrite or Supabase, depending on deployment).
• Images: signed-in users' generated images are stored in persistent object storage (Amazon S3 when configured). Without an account, generated images may be uploaded to a temporary host (tmpfiles.org) and typically expire in about 60 minutes.
• Public shares: creating a share link makes the selected comic preview available to anyone with the URL until you revoke it.

We share information with service providers who help us run WebtoonMe, including:

• Auth and database hosts (Appwrite and/or Supabase)
• AI providers (Google, Anthropic)
• Payment processing (Stripe)
• Image storage (Amazon Web Services, and tmpfiles.org for temporary guest images)
• Optional analytics providers when analytics is enabled

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information if required by law, to protect the Service, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or similar transaction.

The Service uses cookies and local browser storage to keep you signed in, remember settings, save local projects, and complete checkout. Optional analytics cookies load only when analytics is enabled for that environment.

We keep account, credit, and order records for as long as needed to provide the Service and meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements. Local-only projects remain until you clear them from this device. You can delete or export cloud projects from the app where those controls are available. Temporary guest images are removed by the temporary host on its own schedule.

• Use local mode without creating an account.
• Sign out, switch storage mode, or stop using cloud sync.
• Revoke public share links.
• Export your project JSON from the app.
• Request access, correction, or deletion of account data by contacting us as described below.

Depending on where you live (including the EEA, UK, and some US states), you may have additional rights to access, delete, or port personal data, or to object to certain processing. We will honor those rights as required by applicable law.

WebtoonMe is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. You must be at least 13 (or the higher age required in your country) to create an account. Parents and guardians may use the Service to create comics that include photos of children they are authorized to share.

We and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. If you use the Service from another region, you understand that your information may be transferred to those locations.

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information, including HTTPS and provider-managed authentication. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

We may update this policy as the Service changes. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
